Celebrating local partnerships that develop and empower our communities

Guest blog post from Tim Maloney, Bank of America Illinois President and Gala Chair for CASL’s 26th Annual Dinner Gala

At Bank of America, our philanthropic investments and community partnerships support our company’s purpose to improve the financial lives of the customers, clients and communities we serve.

Through our partnerships with Chicagoland nonprofits, we seek to address both immediate needs related to jobs, housing and hunger, and connect individuals to longer-term solutions that will help them improve their financial lives. The Chinese American Service League (CASL) is one such organization we’re honored to partner with as they work hard to help individuals and families obtain the skills, education and, ultimately, jobs they need to succeed locally.

In 2014, we contributed a grant in support of CASL’s Chef Training Program, which provides individuals with basic employment readiness and job placement. I was delighted to see the program come to life during the Gala as CASL’s Chef Training Program provided the gourmet appetizers for the evening.

I’m also excited that this year’s CASL Gala was held at The Field Museum, as it coincides with another important Bank of America partnership in Chicago, the opening of the new permanent exhibition, the Cyrus Tang Hall of China. We’re proud to be the exhibit’s education and community partner. Our support of local cultural institutions reflects our belief that arts and culture are a powerful tool to help economies thrive, to help individuals connect with each other and across cultures, and to educate and enrich societies.

We’re grateful to be a long-time supporter of many of Chicago’s prominent organizations like CASL and the Field Museum. On behalf of our more than 6,000 Bank of America employees in the greater Chicago-area, including Tenny Ahn, Vice President for Consumer Banking and a proud CASL board member, we congratulate CASL as they celebrate 36 years of serving the Chicago community, on their achievements and extend best wishes for the future.

Thank you for being an inspiration to us all.
