Child Education & Development Services Department

Child Education & Development Services

The Child Education and Development Services Department has three major programs; the Child Development Center, (CDC), which serves 60 children ages two to five years old from low to moderate-income families in a day care setting; The Family Learning and Resource Center (FALREC), an early child intervention and family support drop-in program serving young Chinese families with children up to five years of age; and the School Age Center (SAC), serves children from six to 13 years old with a variety of after school educational and recreational program activities. The CDC has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 1997 and is currently undergoing re-accreditation, and the School Age Center is one of only three such programs in Chicago accredited by the National School Age Care Alliance (NSACA).

School Age Center Enrollment Notice - limited spaces available

CASL Child Development Center (CDC) has a limited number of preschool spaces left. It is the first Chinese/English bilingual/bicultural government subsidized preschool in Chicago’s Chinatown area and accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children.

CDC provides Preschool for All, Head Start and Child Care services for children of ages 2 to 5. It is a full day program, from Monday to Friday, 8:00 am to 6:00 pm. Its curriculum focuses on children’s total development, which includes early literacy, math, science, art, music, movement and imaginative play. It gives priority to children from low income/single-parent families or with special needs.

If you have children of ages 2-5, please come to CASL CDC to register with the following: 1) Child’s Birth Certificate, 2) Child’s Immunization Record and Medical Card, 3) your family income proof: two current pay check subs from each parent (within 30 days prior to registration), and 4) current Income Tax Return.
