CASL 23rd Annual Benefit Dinner a Success!Over $378,000 raised to support CASL programs

On May 2, 2012, CASL held its 23rd Annual Dinner Gala at the Hilton Chicago. The evening was a success and raised over $378,000 in funds to support and sustain the comprehensive programming and services CASL provides to over 17,000 clients of all ages and backgrounds each year.
A keynote speech was delivered by Tina Tchen, Chief of Staff to the First Lady Michelle Obama and former CASL Board Member. Guests enjoyed a gourmet dinner prepared by renowned Asian American Chef, Jackie Shen and a performance of the "Parasol Dance" by students in CASL's Cultural Retention Program. The students were dressed in Shanghai style dresses called 'qiapaos.' We would like to give a special thanks to Title Sponsor, JPMorgan Chase Foundation and Co-Chairs Raymond M. On December 2, 2011, CASL held its 29th Annual Chinatown Community Dinner at Furama in Chinatown. The evening was a success and raised over $82,000 in funds to support the comprehensive programming and services CASL provides to over 17,000 clients of all ages and backgrounds each year.
The evening included a performance of the "Dun Huang Fairy Dance" by students in CASL’s Cultural Retention program, a raffle, lucky bin drawing, and presentation of CASL's 2011 Outstanding Service Awards to Cathay Bank, Terry Noone, and UPS in honor of their admirable volunteerism and contributions the Chinese community. CASL is grateful for the support of Jade and Gold Sponsors: Blue Cross Blue Shield, CNA Foundation, Kraft Foods, UPS, US Cellular, AARP, Allstate, Motorola Mobility Foundation, Northern Trust and State Farm. A special thanks to Congressman Danny Davis, who was in attendance and spoke of his strong support for CASL. CASL hosted its 16th Annual Golf outing at Carriage Greens Country Club in Darien on Monday, September 12, 2011, raising over $30,000 to support the comprehensive services CASL provides to clients of all ages and backgrounds within the community. Over 90 golfers, played a competitive game of golf and we ended up with ties for first, second and last place. We would like to thank all of our supporters for their continued dedication year after year! Of the many supporters of this year’s event, CASL is proud to thank Lead Organizer & Raffle Sponsor, R.M. On May 11, 2011, CASL held its 22nd Annual Benefit Dinner at the Hilton Chicago. The evening was a success and raised over $310,000 in funds to support and sustain the comprehensive programming and services CASL provides to over 17,000 clients of all ages and backgrounds each year. The evening included festive performances by CASL’s cultural retention program students, a silent auction and raffle, and presentation of the Golden Lion Award to Mr. Raymond Spaeth, retired President of Lakeside Bank. Appetizers were prepared by CASL’s Chef Training Program graduates and the four dinner courses by renowned Asian American Chicago chefs: Jesse DeGuzman of Sunda, Tony Hu of Lao Yu Ju, Bill Kim of Urban Belly, and Jackie Shen of Chicago Cut Steakhouse. In the photograph above, 22nd Annual Benefit Dinner Event Chair Frank Clark, Chairman and CEO of ComEd, is presented an original work of art entitled "Energy," created by two former CASL clients, the now world famous Zhou brothers. The gift commemorates the gifts Clark has shared with CASL and represents energy for CASL's future.
